Here's a recipe for making pasta with a simple tomato sauce:

Ingredients:

For the Pasta:

250g pasta (spaghetti, penne, fusilli, etc.)
Water, for boiling
Salt, to taste

For the Tomato Sauce:

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 small onion, finely chopped
400g canned tomatoes, crushed
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

Cook the Pasta:

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
2. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
3. Drain the pasta, reserving a cup of pasta water, and set aside.

Make the Tomato Sauce:

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
3. Add crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
4. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

Combine Pasta and Sauce:

1. Add the cooked pasta to the tomato sauce and toss to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
2. If the sauce is too thick, add a little pasta water to thin it out.
3. Cook for another minute or two, stirring constantly, to allow the pasta to absorb some of the sauce.

Serve:

1. Divide the pasta into serving bowls.
2. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
3. Serve hot and enjoy!
