Beaver

Beaver is a large, primarily nocturnal, semi-aquatic rodent known for its building skills, including constructing dams, canals, and lodges. They are the second-largest rodent in the world after the capybara. Beavers are famous for their ability to modify the environment to suit their needs, a rare trait among mammals.

Classification of the Beaver:

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Rodentia
Family: Castoridae

Genus: There are two extant (currently living) genera:

1. Castor (which includes the North American beaver, Castor canadensis)
2. Castor fiber (Eurasian beaver)

Beavers play a crucial role in their ecosystems by creating wetlands, which help to support a diverse range of wildlife, improve water quality, and reduce erosion. Their behavior and ecological impact have been the subject of study in fields such as biology, ecology, and environmental science.
